Running Goals for 2025

A new year is the perfect time to get clear on your running goals. Whether you’re lacing up for the first time or coming back after a break, setting a goal can keep you focused and fired up. In 2025, more adults are signing up for local 5Ks, themed fun runs, and their first half-marathons…and we LOVE to see it.

So what should your next running goal be? If you’re new, start with a 5K. Pick a race 8 to 10 weeks out and follow our beginner-friendly plan, The First 5k, that includes walk-run intervals, rest days, and basic strength work. You’ll build consistency and confidence with each session.

If you’ve already done a few 5Ks, consider leveling up to a 10K. That distance adds a new layer of endurance while still being achievable for someone with a busy life. Aim for three to four runs per week with one longer run on the weekend. Incorporate some speed play or hills to boost strength and stamina. Check out our 10k plan for a easy to use guide.

Feeling bold? Go for a half marathon or MARATHON. With 12 to 18 weeks of steady training, most intermediate runners can build up to 13.1 miles. The key is consistency, smart recovery, and trusting the process. Remember: it’s not about pace—it’s about finishing strong and proud.

Whatever your goal, make it personal. Sign up for a race that excites you. Write your goal somewhere visible. Share it with a friend. Let your training become something that anchors your week, not just another task.

At Outwork Co., we believe running is more than a workout. It’s a commitment to growth, to grit, and to proving to yourself that you’re capable of more. Your 2025 goal doesn’t have to be flashy. It just has to matter to you.

Pick your distance. Build your plan. Show up for yourself.

And remember—we’re with you every step of the way.
